Pavilhão Multiusos do Arade
The multi-use show hall is designed to host a series of events, including musical concerts, theatre, congresses and exhibitions. The backlit polycarbonate in white light is a prominent feature of the architecture with the show hall volume accentuated in colour. The show hall volume is considerably visible within its surroundings; this provided the opportunity to use colour to communicate to the local population by associating a particular colour to different events. To mark the beginning of an event, animated light is used. For example, a heartbeat animation with light – a metaphor stating that the show is alive! In other words, the event is taking place at that precise moment. Philip Rafael was the lead designer and managed this project as part of his work as Senior Lighting Designer at Donker.
